Dr. Erfan Ibrahim is the Founder and CEO of The Bit Bazaar LLC (TBB) (http://tbbllc.com ) since August 2001. TBB offers a full suite of professional services in IT, networking, communications, cybersecurity and business management to service providers, corporate enterprises, academia, healthcare and government agencies. Erfan’s professional career spans over 32 years and includes hands-on experience in nuclear engineering, information technology, communications, networking, cybersecurity, smart grid and renewable energy. He is an expert in helping organizations align their digital technology goals with their strategic business goals.
During his 3-decade career Erfan has worked for Lawrence Livermore National Lab, UCLA, Pacific Bell, Jyra Research, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL). While at EPRI he organized the first two workshops on Smart Grid for National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2009. While at NREL, he designed, built and tested a secure SCADA testbed to demonstrate a zero-trust network for protecting critical infrastructure.
Erfan’s current activities include assisting utilities, vendors, integrators, government agencies and enterprise customers secure their critical infrastructure from cyber threats. Erfan is also working with industry experts on an innovative approach to build smart communities (25,000 – 50,000 people) powered by small modular nuclear reactors (SMR), renewable energy and hydrogen and using desalination and electric furnaces to meet fresh water and recycling needs.
Erfan has a Bachelor of Science in Physics with honors from Syracuse University in 1983, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Nuclear Engineering from University of Texas Austin in 1984 and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from University of California Berkeley in 1987.

Yang Hongwei, Ph.D, Chief Scientist for the “973” Programme, Lead Reviewer for the UNFCCC. He has been working with the Energy Research Institute (ERI) for 22 years since 1998, during which he was Deputy Director of the Energy Environment Center, Director of CDM Center, and Director of Energy Efficiency Center. Presently, he is a senior research fellow with the ERI.
Dr. Yang’s research focuses on energy economics. He has done many intensive studies on energy related environmental issues such as climate change mitigation, air pollution control, low carbon cities, energy systems analysis, energy technology options, medium to long-term energy strategy and energy planning. He has won the first prize and the second prize many times from NDRC for his outstanding research achievements, such as “Master thoughts on social economic development for China for the 13th FYP period”, “Approaches, policies and measures for China to achieve its 40%-45% carbon intencity reduction target through energy efficiency improvement”, “Re-inventing fire: China --- roadmap for China’s energy revolution towards 2050” ,etc.; he was awarded jointly by 4 Ministries (MHR, NDRC, MEE and MOF) as “National Advanced Individual” for his outstanding contributions to the development and implementation of China’s energy conservation and emission reduction policies.

As an independent expert, he is engaged in relevant research and consulting projects by international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission Renewable Energy (IRENA), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Bank (WB). He has hosted and participated in many “National 863 Programs” and scientific research projects of “National Science and Technology Support Program”. He has comprehensive and in-depth research on renewable energy industry development, technology standards, policies and regulations.

Dr. Caldwell is a director of US-China Green Energy Council (UCGEC), Chairman of its Green Building Task Force and Chief Editor of its Conference Programs since 2007. He is President and CEO of E3 Regenesis Solutions where he now helps clients build green energy alliances to integrate green energy systems into smarter buildings and Eco-Cities. He is also Chairman of Global Technology at Global Smart City Conferences, an NGO that organizes smart city conferences globally. He completed Intensive Chinese at Yale University for 12 months, with honors and was a Chinese Translator for the US Air Force in the early 1960’s. In the late 1960’s he earned his BA and MA at the University of Texas, Austin, while teaching American Politics. In the 1970’s. He taught university courses on the Politics of Energy and the Environment, Chinese Politics, American Politics, Comparative Politics and World History at SUNY Binghamton and Iona College, NY. He did graduate work at Columbia University and Harvard and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980. He worked in Beijing for three years as a teacher at Beijing Tourism Institute, and lecturer at Peking University then as a tour guide. He worked in Hong Kong (1-year marketing Chinese software). He founded Pacific Rim Connections, Inc. in 1985 (multilingual prepress services), was First Editor of the Unicode Standard (ISO10646) (1990), and served on the Unicode Technical Committee while managing Pacific Rim Connections. He was a Director of the 1990 Institute in 1990-2016. He was VP for Multilingual Computing, DAE Interactive Marketing (Ion Global, US) in 2001-2. In 2004, he co-founded E3 Regenesis Solutions, Inc. and worked in Beijing in 2007-8 as a smart grid/Smart City integration consultant to Open Systems Control.

He has graduated from Tsinghua University in 2010 and received a Ph. D. degree in engineering. From April 2010 to July 2015,he worked at Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute for power system planning. During the period from January 2013 to December 2014, he went to the Renewable Energy Department of National Energy Administration, working for management of the renewable energy industry. From July 2015 till now, he worked in China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute and served as Deputy Director of National Renewable Energy Information Management Center, engaged in research on subsidy policy, pricing policy and transaction policy of green power certificate. Participated in 13th Five-Year Energy Planning, Electricity Planning and Renewable Energy Planning and Research, participated in drafting of many renewable energy policy documents.
